  Behaviour

Tigers are timid, secretive and essentially solitary, except for the short mating season and the time when the young are dependent on their mothers.

The sizes of the territory and home range vary depending on the type of habitat, density of prey, on the sex and age of the animal. They usually vary from about 10 to 1000 km˛.

Jumping ability is well developed. Tigers are able to make jumps as long as 5 or 6 meters.

Tigers like water and can swim very well, easily crossing rivers and streams as wide as 6 or 8 km, and exceptionally even 29 km.
