  Loss of habitat

The second threat is that the human population moves into the tiger's habitat. As forest space is reduced, the number of animals left in the forest is also reduced, tigers cannot find the prey they need to survive and consequently kill men.

Moreover, as human activity envelops these shrinking forests, population fragmentation occurs. Then tigers in one area can no longer breed with tigers in adjacent areas because villages, farms, roads and industry have separated them from one another.

Inevitably, tigers are forced to repeatedly interbreed with the same small group of animals, giving birth to unhealthy cubs with life threatening birth defects and mutations.
