  Poaching

Poachers illegally hunt and kill the tigers because their fur, bones, whiskers and other body parts are sold on the black market for a lot of money. Usually, tiger poaching occurs in all areas where large numbers of tigers have been recorded.

The methods used for killing tigers include the use of steel traps, poison and the use of firearms.

Steel traps are laid in paths that are frequented by tigers. Once trapped the animal is left to struggle all night long so that it's exhausted from its attempts to escape and then a simple blow from a heavy stick is sufficient to kill the animal.

Poachers use also poison carcasses of a tiger's prey to kill them. In the hot season they also dig shallow pools and fill them with poisoned water.

Firearms are used where hunting can be carried out with little hindrance.

It has been unofficially estimated that a tiger a day is being killed which means the tiger's extinction will become inevitable in 5 years and tigers will disappear from the wild forever in 10 years!

Consequently, this is the time to act to save these magnificent animals.
